2009 Emmy Award Winner
For the second consecutive year, The Steve & Kathy Show won an Emmy® award from the Mid-America Chapter of the National Association of Television Arts at Sciences. The award was given in the category of religion for the skit "Real Preachers of Genius: Door to Door Evangelist."
"Being recognized with another Emmy® is tremendous and an affirmation that this new type of Christian programming resonates," said executive producer and host Steve Gray. "The Steve & Kathy Show isn't afraid to have fun and push the boundaries of what people think about faith-based TV, while producing a show that people want to watch."
"Real Preachers of Genius: Door to Door Evangelist" spoofs the antics of a zealous preacher who carries his religion a little too far. Patterned after the Budweiser Real Men commercials, Gray wrote the skit to expose what he has termed 'absurd religion.'
Last year, Gray won an Emmy® for Real Preachers of Genius - Mega Church Pastor. The Emmy honors excellence and innovation in the telecommunications arts and sciences.
Now in its third season, The Steve & Kathy Show infuses humor, music, parodies, skits and satires into a program that combines a late night talk show feel with an SNL humor, proving popular among viewers across the nation. Hosts Steve and Kathy Gray use a dry and disarming sense of humor to spoof the absurdities in religion today.
The Steve & Kathy Show has distinguished itself as award-winning humor that's setting a new standard of excellence for faith-based TV. Its awards include two regional Emmy® awards, eight regional Emmy® nominations, two Gold Telly awards and 65 Telly awards.
The Steve & Kathy Show airs across America on 12 stations in 16 major cities, including Direct TV and Dish Network.
